You Can Make a Difference
It’s not hard to see the needs surrounding us every day. But together, we can make a difference! At The Journey, we believe God has called each of us to serve. That’s why we’re committed to making a difference in our city and having fun while we do it … in fact, that’s what EPIC is all about.
“If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.” – Isaiah 58:10
What is EPIC?
EPIC is Engaging People In Community service. Through EPIC, The Journey serves the needs of the New York City metro area in a way that reveals Jesus’ love.
How Can I Get Involved in Community Service?
There are two great ways to get involved in community service at The Journey:
1) Attend an EPIC Community Service Event:
If you are interested in checking out community service @ The Journey, serving at one of our many community service projects each month is a great way to start.
- Projects are open to everyone – in fact, we encourage you to bring your friends!
- Projects are located all across the city at various times and days
- Past projects have included working with the homeless, serving New York City kids, cleaning up parks, volunteering in soup kitchens, and even repairing damaged baby clothing for kids (See expanded list of past projects)
2) Join an EPIC Growth Group:
For those who want to spend a little more time serving New York, joining an EPIC Growth Group is the perfect option for you! Growth Groups consists of 10-15 people that get together each week in a convenient New York City location to meet new people, study the bible, learn something new and have fun. EPIC Growth Groups are Growth Groups with a community service twist!
Each EPIC Growth Group:
- Plans and participates in community service projects throughout New York City
- Leads the projects that they plan and provides opportunities for church-wide participation.
Fall 2008 EPIC Growth Groups sign ups begin in September! If you are interested in signing up for an EPIC Growth Group, you can check them all out and sign up on the Growth Group Page.
