Roy Mansfield - Teaching Pastor

Roy Mansfield

Hi, my name is Roy and my heart is to help people take the next steps in ordering their life choices to making God the ultimate priority and most valuable treasure of their lives.

BASIC STUFF:

I was born in Alaska, grew up in Florida, and attended college at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Desiring to be in the place where I could make the greatest impact for God’s kingdom, I moved to New York City in 1988, met my wife Natalie in 1990, and finally convinced her to marry me in 1992.  I live in New York City with my wife Natalie and our two daughters.

BIRTHDAY: March 30th, 1964

EDUCATION: B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Missions and Youth Ministry from Liberty University

Interests and Favorites

  • Places: Alaska (mostly in the summer), The Cloisters in Ft. Tryon Park and libraries
  • What's on your iPod: Especially Christian Music in the Rock Ballad style, but almost anything that has God glorifying, thoughtful lyrics (I say “almost” to account for twangy country music, no matter how thoughtful the lyrics are).
  • Books: Anything by John Grisham, John Piper or John Ortberg (the apostle John is pretty good too.)
  • What do you TiVo: Monk, 24 (only on DVD, as I have 24 addiction issues when I watch it live) and House
  • Sport Teams: I really don’t spend much time following sports anymore, so I’ll have to go with the Yankees, since I live in the Bronx and wouldn’t want my house firebombed.
  • Movies: The End of the Spear, The Passion of The Christ, and (lest you think I’m too spiritual) BraveHeart and So I Married an Axe Murderer
  • Hobbies: Video editing, reading and playing with my Pocket PC/Phone
  • Dislikes: Craving something that I know is in the refrigerator, then going home to find it’s been eaten (yes, that’s just how deep I am)
  • Odd Facts: When I was 13 and going through my “magician” phase, I had myself chained to a concrete block and then jumped off a pier. I escaped.
  • Life Scripture: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith (Phil. 1:21-25)
